Robert Redford has brought his Utah Sundance Film Festival to Brooklyn and is promoting a Tribeca-type film series. Redford's New York festival follows right on the heels of DeNiro's Tribeca festival. Redford lived and went to school in New York before he got famous and evidently knows that New York is the entertainment capital of the world (right after Los Angeles). Utah is the outback in comparison.
Redford's New York Sundance Festival is a 10-day series of film screenings, musical performances and theater. Whereas Redford's festival includes 38 screenings of 14 feature and documentary films and 8 shorts, Tribeca offers 174 features, 100 shorts and more than 700 screenings. Tribeca ended on May 7 and Redford's festival is in mid-May.
