Hosted by Damon Wayans, the awards ceremony, Live Red Carpet and post show Black Carpet Lounge was a six hour affair. Harry Belafonte received a Humanitarian Award and Chaka Khan was given a Lifetime Achievement Awards.The top performance was Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder and Prince doing Chaka songs. Chris Brown doing a back flip off the stage before singing his song was pretty cool too. Jay-Z and Beyonce's performance was hot too. Jamie Foxx and Fantasia french kissed big time during their number. The on-stage Good Times reunion was great too. It included JJ - Jimmie Walker, Wilona - Janet DuBois, Michael - Ralph Carter and Janet Jackson came out and stole the moment. She played Penny on the show.
The event was broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. Prince also won an award for best R&B artist and he performed a funky rock number called 3121, which is the title of his new album.
Black Entertainment Television is now owned by Viacom, having purchased it for $3 billion from founders Robert and Sheila Johnson.
